Welcome to London Garden Designer, a friendly and personalised design company offering a comprehensive and flexible service across London, the UK, and Europe. Established in 2003 by qualified and experienced landscape designer Sara Jane Rothwell, MSGD, BA (Hons), NC (Hort), we are enthusiastic, practical, collaborative, and cost-effective, with a meticulous attention to detail that informs our diverse portfolio of award-winning gardens. Known for our slick city gardens and roof terraces, we have appeared in numerous magazines and books.

Our team is led by Sara Jane, who trained in Horticulture and Garden Design, bringing a further 11 years of design experience from her work in Film and Theatre. She became a registered member of the Society of Garden Designers (MSGD) in 2006, dedicated to maintaining standards of professionalism within the field of Garden Design. She is also a BALI registered designer. In 2021, Sara Jane's 'Muswell Hill' garden scooped three prizes at the SGD awards, including Best Medium Residential Garden, Best Planting Design, and the prestigious Grand Award, one of the highest accolades within our industry.

Francesca Galliotto, BA (Hons), joined LGD in Autumn 2018, bringing her passion for garden design and landscape from her background in architecture. Trained at the University Institute IUAV of Venice, she worked at del Buono Gazerwitz before joining our diverse range of landscape projects.

As fully accredited, Registered designers of both the Society of Garden Designers and the British Association of Landscape Industries, we uphold the highest standards of professionalism in our field.

Our Work

We are proud of our diverse portfolio of award-winning gardens, from steep, sloping sites transformed with layers of cascading plants and Corten steel to plant-focused gardens that envelop you in greenery on every level. We create strong geometry within our garden plans, using key focal views and lines that draw the eye and invite you to explore. We incorporate contemporary and traditional styles using materials such as Cor-ten steel and sawn Yorkstone. Our gardens incorporate pottery studios, entertaining spots, and majestic trees, all designed to be enjoyed in the evenings and throughout the year.
